I still have the original fork on my 1996 Stumpjumper M2FS -- a tan RS Judy. I suspect it's 63 cm of travel and 1 1/8-inch steerer. Does that sound right? Are there any forks still available that will be compatible, travel-wise? (I don't want to fcuk up the geometry). I'd like something light and low-maintenance.

Get a used Marzocchi Z2. The 1999 z2 Atom Bomb and the 1998 z2 BAM were 65mm travel, and pretty much as bulletproof as a fork can get.

They're not super-light though; probably around 3.5 lbs. I'm sure you could dig up a NOS one somewhere, but the used ones are very reliable. You could probably get one for ~$125 or less.

Phready, if you were going to go that route, I just happen to have a 99 Z2 for sale for $100. I could deliver too.
