In my county, trail dollars means 8 foot wide perfectly smooth trails. If not for criminal charges I would steal every dollar from my local IMBA group to prevent them from ruining more shit.

In my community trails are managed by a IMBA affiliated organization. They manage 6 or 7 areas and do a pretty good job.

Re dumbing down the trails, I'm not so sure that's a bad thing over here. Our terrain is really rocky and rooty, there is no beginner terrain here. If they build a pump track or some such thing, at least I could bring my kids there...
