Help my next bike lose weight!

In my own skin
Hi guys,

As I'm recovering from a broken toe and can't ride right now, I've been putting together my next bike in a spreadsheet I'm keeping online. I finally pieced by dream bike together and will start putting it together as soon as I can start riding again.

That being said, it needs to lose about 2 pounds. The objective was simple: build the most bombproof freeride bike under 32 lbs possible (the lighter, the better). It has to be nimble, agile, park-friendly, climb well, jump well, and handle well on super-technical single track. It DOES NOT have to handle 20 foot drops, Whistler-style slopestyle runs, or anything core enough to make it into NWD.

I call upon the collective intelligence of this board to do a quick review of a parts list, and give me your insights, comments, and suggestions. The list has been narrowed down considerably since beginning the compilation process. If you can help lower the weight while maintaining it's bombproofability (is that a word?), you get a happy face.

Enough talk!. Here is the spreadsheet! I'm very interested in what everyone has to say. On components where two are listed per line, the current choice is reflected by weight in the third column

Notes:
I'm 5'10", 215lbs, pedal REAL hard, want to have a single gear up front. I currently have an older specialized XC bike that i like for it's lightness, and a Devinci Ollie that's bombproof but too heavy for me. I'd like this bike to be as light as my XC, but as burly as my downhill. It CAN be done!

Thanks!

Titanium spring for shock, if not run DHX Air. Maybe consider HFX Mag Plus or Formula Oro Puro brakes.....maybe even Hope Mono Mini Pro's (meant for XC but SUPER light 295g each). PC991 Hollowpin chain. I could keep going....but I don't know how crazy you really want to get. The more lightweight XC stuff you put on, the lighter your rig will be.....but it probably won't take as much of a beating. But if you just want weight savings...think as much carbon and titanium as possible.....every little bolt adds up.

wellgo magnesium mg-1 pedals -375g/pair~270g savings
get an aluminum headset~100g savings FSA makes some nice ones
find a lighter wheel set, the transition rims are about 620g each, you should also consider tubeless, stan's fr rims are lighter, maxxis ust tires are lighter and still folding beed. sun-ringle also makes wheel sets. hope pro2 hubs and some lighter rims would be good, more money though. rims: mavic 721, sun single tracks, rhynolite xl's, stan's fr, mavic 817's(bit light but ust).
brakes hope mono mini's with 2-peice rotor(lighter)
fork, RS lyric- save some weight.
dhx air, save a bit more weight

fox float shock
fox 36 talas
xpedo pedals
shimano xt cranks
formual brakes or magura i think makes the lightest ones
hope hubs to mavic 819s (tubeless is key)
dbl butted spokes alloy nips
michelin tires
carbon bars
hope stem
sdg i fly seat and i beam post
be sure to cut all excess metal off bars post etc...

i know a guy who has all these on his nomad and his is way under the 30lbs mark so its easy to get build that frame up light.

blah!
Short cage OX, road cassette, seat with Ti rails. If you decide to go with a custom wheelset, go with Ti spokes, and alloy nips. Go tubeless.

UST is heavy as sin and 819s are not that strong, as well he already has carbon bars on there

I would go with a regular king headset instead of a steelset
Ditch the shinburgers and get the welgo MG1s, they RULE super light SUPER gripy
Xt cranks are a good idea depending on how hard you are on your stuff
as far as wheels go check out the crossmax SXs or the easton wheels, there both ganna be a bit heavyer than the XLs but much stronger and still pretty light
and check out the new 08 specialized mountian saddle, its supper pinner and light but medicaly designed to be a good seat.
As well throw on a masterpeace seatpost its some easy weight to drop

If you are going to be pedaling up STAY AWAY from the Ifly it flat out hurts to sit on

i would say pretty much the same as everyone else but you could save 100 grams if you got an NC-17 Imperator Pro headset i run one on my downhil bike it has taper roller bearings which are much stronger than ball bearings it weighs 98 grams
you could also chop a hell of a lot of weight off with an air shock
