Right. My dad talked me into doing teaching a little thing on bike repair and maintenance for the church boy scout-ish troop that he's one of the rangers of. It will be a group of about 10 boys. It's going to be three 45 minute lessons. I'm not sure how much material I can fit in there, so I'd love to hear from people who might have experience with something like this. This is currently what I think I'll do:

Day 1
- Basic maintenance - What to do and when
- Changing a tire - I'll bring in wheels and tools and walk them all through doing it themselves

Day 2
- Adjusting derailleurs - I'll have at least one bike in a stand that I can walk each one of them through with
- Adjusting brakes

Day 3
- Adjusting brakes (continued in needed)
- How to check for problems
- Basic wheel truing - time permitting

I'd suggest proper bike cleaning (IE don't just hose it down)

Just some ideas if you find yourself with time to spare...
-Maybe doing a portion telling them how to make sure a bike properly fits them.
-How to properly clean a bike after a ride
-What to look for to see if your parts need replacing, chainrings cassette etc...
-maybe just a basic learning of what all the parts are called even to start things off
