The paranoid spokesman sees the fate of conspiracy in apocalyptic terms—he traffics in the birth and death of whole worlds, whole political orders, whole systems of human values. He is always manning the barricades of civilization. He constantly lives at a turning point. Like religious millenialists he expresses the anxiety of those who are living through the last days and he is sometimes disposed to set a date fort the apocalypse.

This is from 1964.

Peruse it shan't you?

Not bad, but I have to think this author underplays the element of deliberate strategy involved. It is not simply a compulsive view of the world but rather an insurgent approach to political discourse that can and has been effective.

Now like any strategy it can be used to pursue stupid goals...

In that vein, I think you're also missing the implications.

Or at least reading it a little differently that I am.

Why these policies work and with whom they work is part of the point he's trying to get accross. The historical perspective amuses the hell out of me.

Let me put it this way: I can promise you that douchebags like glen beck the staypuft marshmellow man did a LOT of homework before starting his show on fox.

Don't ever play the role of rick. He's crazy.

Mr welch quotes from himself about the insiders' long range plans
first quote

"A part of that plan of course"

Great definition of those "insiders." Jesus dude, I put up a little blurb about paranoia and the description of nebulous 'others' seeking to undermine the country. Then you find me the textbook case of this example's manifestation.

Thanks!

Rick won't come knocking here.

You're welcome. Research what historical influences all this "silly paranoia" is based upon, Carroll Quigley's book should help. Or do you already know and agree with me?

Based on your short history here, I'm not sure I can differentiate you from the detrimental paranoia I meant to reference. All those videos you were so hot to trot a while back are that exact paranoia incarnate.

So in that respect, I don't think we really agree on much. Because if you truly recognize what it is I'm getting at, you'd be rather silly to associate yourself with it........regardless of what you may see as the 'source'.

But I doubt I'll read a book I don't already own in the short time this thread will be alive so have at it. Learn me ;)

You're going to eat me alive for this, but I'll say it anyway.:thumb:
If this paranoia is so detrimental, then it must be having an effect in getting people to become aware of the wrestling theater that is Washington, and it's one party, two-salesman structure.

That the mainstream media is losing it's thread of remaining credibility while people are seeking alternative sources of information, is a testament to this "detrimental" effect of founded paranoia.

I'm not someone who worries about black helicopters and men in black, I'm not a racist etc, rather someone who is open to examining different ways of looking at the world around me.

I doubt I can learn you as I'm not too good at expressing my thoughts. Also what you're asking me is something that took me months to do, and I'm still learning, but I'll give it a shot.
Try to step back from the picture of the whole left/blue - right/red paradigm and ask yourself what these two apparently opposing sides have in common and what this "paranoia" is detrimental to.
Meanwhile, I'll try and come up with an answer that doesn't make me sound like a wingnut.
