In that case Crackien, more power! I'm not a co-worker, but you do know me. My name's, uh, Jeff. Supergo also does a SC Superlight copy. Isn't it possible that SC has licensed out their designs, or is in some way being compensated for these weyless copies?

Why would Supergo pay for something that Santa Cruz cannot copyright and has no legal rights over?

Thanks Incubus, for responding to Clancy.

The original question was "What do you think?" I expressed my opinion and have now repeated it too many times. I'm not trying to decide anything for any of you. It's not that complicated, for me there is more to consider than just price. You either agree or you don't.

The horse is dead. Long live the horse!

Edit for Clancy: Um "ironic minority"? Spare me. That's not nearly as clever as you think it is. Now isn't that ironic?

what it referred to is the tendency to disagree with everything the majority says, just to show how different you are. Randomly choosing things to stand up for as "principles" just to show you are a principled person. And I dont think its ironic at all.

I DO think that its crazy to willingly pay extra for what could be categorized basically as administrative costs for the company. What part of that R&D am I buying exactly?

If its part of my price, what do I get for my part of that R&D? Oh yeah, a frame geometry design that could more cheaply produced elsewhere.

I'll spend a third less and spend the leftover continually supporting a company like supergo.

I was the first to respond so I don't see how I was disagreeing with the majority. And there is nothing random about my opinion on this subject. I don't care if you or anyone else think I'm principled or not.

What do you get out of SCB's R&D? Nothing you probably won't eventually get out of a Weyless if you wait long enough. And that cycle will probably keep on happening, so there's no reason at all for you to pay more - other than that pesky personal ethics issue you think I made up.

Maybe I am crazy - I already suggested that. Maybe SCB has me completely duped. But I'm comfortable perched up here on my high horse, so let's move on.

haha this is fun, i just built one of those weyless-bullit-esque frames for a bike manufacturer here that is going to rip off the general design and sell it for way less (god im boring) than what supergo sells them for!

as for the frame itself, i think its good, the only thing that struck me was that the rear end moves laterally when you undo the bearing pinch bolts, probably doesnt mean anything but it was a bit puzzling. i took it for a quick spin after building it up with light wheels, full XT and a psylo tullio, pedalled like any other single pivot with an spv, but i found the fork to be a bit too small, at least for gravity purposes id shoot for a fork with over 21" or + a-c

I'm also would like to buy a W67, supergo now sells it for $299 without shock. It's insanely cheap. easton rad tubeset, no more questions...

I just would like to ask if anybody owns it, how flexy the rear end is due to those screwed-up dropouts.

I also don't know what size rear shock fits in it. anybody?

thanks

Stock shock was/is a 9.0 x 2.75 manitou Swinger 6-way.

Those screwed up dropouts actually work pretty damn well. Doesn't seem any more/less flexy than any other SP bike. Though I'm only 5'9" and 140#, so if it's flexing all over, I'm not noticing it at all.
