This morning was the official launch of www.cycle-cny.com. I set it up as a way to promote cycling in central New York, and to help people meet up with others (especially from outside their local groups/clubs) for more riding. Have a looksee, join if you want, let me know what you think.

Thanks everyone. Obviously the point is not to simply cover territory. The Binghamton to Syracuse stretch was the easy part... but there's not much to the east or west until you hit Albany and Rochester, so it just kind of worked out that way.

I setup the site for 2 reasons... First, to promote cycling in central NY. I think there are lots of good rides in the region, but I think people tend to focus on their own area of local trails for riding. Hopefully the site will help bring together people from different areas and build a strong cycling community. Second, to promote responsible use of trails, and the environment in general. Most of know either first or second hand the types of "confrontations" mtbers have with hikers and the like on an all to regular basis. Hopefully cycle-cny will encourage responsible use of trails and built a stong group of riders who work to keep the trails open.
