Are you guys still planning on making it?

I am going to be up there Friday evening....I am working the gate Fri 10pm-midnight. Looks like I have a dual sport bike to put around on for Sunday (Race day) but I might spend a large part of that at the River crossing helping guys out of the river.

Last weekend there was some rain that kept the dust down some. But plan for dust with this dry spring weather. If there is alot of rain you might need a snorkle on your bikes :D j/k

Either way the people manning the gate or the sign-up will know where I am staying. I will be in the Shawn and Jessica Johnson rig if I am not out at a check point. Sat night I will probably run into Odessa for dinner. Last year the VFW (I think, or was it the Eagles?) had a steak dinner at a reasonable price.

Hope to see you guys there.

idk our plans are way up in the air since our spring break starts after that weekend. how hard is the 50 mile course if i raced 15 and under? i'm turning 16 this april though. i've never done a water crossing, is that gonna mess up my bike? or should i just do the poker run?

It is just one lap on the same course (the 100 milers do 2 laps) The Poker run is parts of the race course and probably won't include the water crossing....but I don't konw exactly wich way the race chairman will run the poker run course.....so don't quote me on that.

The water crossing isn't hard at all. If you are unsure just shut the bike off push it across (possibly have someone else help push you across :) like me) and start it on the other side. Last year people rode across no problem.

Well most......

There are some "squids" that grabbed a bunch of throttle and hit a submerged rock and took a swim. :D It is a slow moving stream It is not even 50ft across. and most of the time it wasn't over my knees. Some people just panic....and they take a mid race swim. lol The first overall guy got off his bike his first time through and walked it across (engine running) and then hopped on and took off.

It is nothing bad, but it is ammusing for by standers sometimes.

Any monkeys heading over to the desert race, I am the fat guy, wearing (more than likely) a Safety cone orange sleaved DH jersey. Odds are I will be working the poker run at a check point and hopefully the creek crossing for the race.

I hope to see you there.

PS. Showa, are you goind to be with Randy frm Aurora Suzuki?
Freeridekid, unless your family is planning something for Spring break you should make it up to the race. :)

I am out of here shortly and won't be back online until Monday. Hope to see you there!
