My last night ride convinced me it's time to get an HID light. I tend to do single track, huck and bomb rides. I'm leaning towards the Lume Strada HID. Since they're so pricey, I want to try making due with just one good light. Anyone have recommendations?

I was lucky to get a deal on the STORM HID by Niterider
http://www.niterider.com/prod_bicycle.html

I had the original 30W dual beam NiteRider Commuter that worked great until the batteries died (after 3 or 4 years though). All for forest single track etc.

I thought I could go with one on the head and one on the bars but the HID was sooo bright that thats all you really need, unless you can fork out for 2 sets of HIDs because bar mounts compliment depth perception by throwing shadows. I think head mount is more essential. HID all the way though.

I have a Lume and it is great. I had a narrow beam, that I did not like, but they changed the reflector and made it a wide. Super service and great light.
