thinking out loud and being very crude.

there are already 2600 dead americans as a direct result of iraq. several thousand more wounded. there were around 5000 dead on 9/11.

it kinda sucks when the "answer" ends up being almost as expensive as the problem it "solves". specially now that the US military is commited in iraq, and cannot attend more potentially worse matters like iran. thats a huge strategical cost for iraq.

I would like to say that
"those figures against Iraq will be small change compaired to Iran.
Iraq was strangled by 10 years of embargos before you moved in, Iran has not been and has a larger better equiped and trained military, and then after that you will have an even larger population than Iraq's engaged in the same form of guerrilla warfare which to date you have had no real answer for except the collective punishment as metted out in fallujah, Don't let any males over 12 out and then level the town saying you asked non combatants to leave so therefore the deserved it. (interestingly the same crime against humanity the USA liked to execute people for in the post WW2 environment).

Iran will be a far greater bloodbath, for aparently "WMD's" that don't exist (again).... but I'm sure that the bush retards will trump up a few more excuse's before the kick off."
I would like to say that, but I wont... Cos MikeD as a minion of "The Man"™ is unhappy that I have been talking about how the US govenment is making me sad.... so under duress I'd like to point out that I wont say that.
thank you and I now return you to your normal posting. :nopity:

It's a joke Mike.... Relax!

Relax yourself. You won't notice anything until it's too late, and you won't feel a thing.

(Oh, and next time we toss back some Monteith's, we'll laugh about how similar our views really are, except that you're given to hyperbole... :p )

MD

Ed: AWESOME article in the April New Yorker about Iraq, btw, including much on the parrallels/differences with MacNamara and the current situation. Read it, one and all...

Ed II: I'm a HUGE fan of Zinni, btw...always have been. Smart dude, incredible leader, and a real warfighter.

They will tell you about the lives they "saved" with the sacrifice. Lots of Iraqis on those 9/11 planes eh? How about the '93 trade center bombing? I bet Sadaam had his hand in that. Hell, maybe Iraq at the time supported the British in the war of 1812 against us...its just as plausable.
