For thoes of you who hang bikes from the top tube on a hitch mounted rack, do you add any extra bungie cords?

My bikes tend to swing a lot and where-ever the rack grips the tube it rubs the paint away. Thule supplies you with a strap to tie the downtube to the outrigger of the rack but it doesn't really prevent the bike from swinging to much.

Anybody do anything to help prevent the bike from moving on the rack while driving?

I use something like this. I run it through each wheel and back to the rack.

I actually am using one of the old sportworks that I am borrowing and it rocks.

The f'n straps are like $2 a piece. Just get them. Wumpus can attest to their ability to work.

I wrapped an old tire around the post at about the height where the frame touches. I then use a piece of webbing through the wheels and around the post to hold the bike securely in place, tightly against the tire. I doesn't move at all, and doesn't scratch the frame.

I can take a pic if you want... (sans bike - I left it at home today)

You want to ship it maybe?
Not really. Now that riding season is back I can probably meet you somewhere. You're not too far from Ninham, correct?

Hmmm ... do you ever ride Ninham? I'll be making at least a couple of trips there in the next few months.
