I'm trying to rebuild the muscle tone I lost prior to getting diagnosed with Hashimoto's Hypothyroidism. been hitting the gym hard for about 6 weeks and it appears that 175 mcg / day of Levothyroxine it the right dose I feel great and the muscle tone is coming back and the fat is burning off.

currently doing 3 rotations of the following. pull downs, rows, bench press, curls 20 reps per set at 7.5 plates reverse flys with 20 pound kettle bells 20 reps. leg extensions 30 reps with 7.5 plates. calf curls 20 reps with 3.5 plates (one leg at a time) Leg press 12 plates 30 reps, Ab crunches 30 reps with 7.5 plates

awesome. no free weights? there's likely some (small) added benefit to doing compound lifts, the usual bench/squat/deadlift, as you're working in other muscle groups to stabilize and the like.

just the kettle bells for now but in doing all the lifts I go slow in the lift keeping everything correctly isolated and I go slow in letting the weights back down. Makes for a better workout.

Have to respect an author who claims that at 36 they are too old to pedal uphills.
I can't wait until all of my outdoor activities can be done with zero muscle engagement whatsoever.

I'm especially looking forward to the price point dropping so that all of my quiet, backcountry hikes are filled with squawking assholes with Bluetooth speakers because 15+ miles of physical exertion is no longer a deterrent.

The combination of hitting the weights and using the new to us Helix HLT3000 3-D lateral trainer is really pushing my fitness up fast. The interval routine on the Helix is freaking brutal. 18 minutes of interval and a following 30 minutes of weights and I am toast. I am back down to a 34 waist which is where I was in high school in 1975 so this soon to be 68 year old is quite pleased
