I'm pretty sure a good fire on the plane would cause a few serious injuries if nothing else. There's not alot of space to get away from it on a crowded 8.00am.

Also, unless it's changed pretty recently, there are still several situations where not 100% of baggage is scanned before it goes on the plane.

They cant stop a bunch of Ninjas from boarding the plane. And i heard they go through metal detectors. This whole buisness is silly. Honestly. No matter what you do they will be able to get on the plane and do somthing.

And like that article said, technology just makes it easier.

if the most amount of people have died in the name of religion (wars, genocide, etc.), why do they allow these holy books aboard? in a few short hours, a skilled salesperson could have 3 or 4 rows singing kumbaya before wheels down.

but seriously, this is just one of 1/2 dozen such security flaws in our system; i'm not laying out the others - der feind hort mit! - but they don't necessarily involve commercial travel; i think an article finally laid out some of these weaknesses last week on the usual sites (chemtrailcentral, captainsquarters, wnd)

The big one has to be cargo containers...that's going to bite us in the ass in a serious way...although I read an article (I think in the Economist, little blub) about some professors who worked out a way to scan an entire cargo container for nuclear material.

@$tinkle: So you won't say what they are but you'll say where they can be found? Have you ever had an IQ test?

Changleen, you really are an abrasive prick. Even when I agree with you on things, I still sometimes feel like I'd like to smack you upside the head. Have you ever had a personality test?

i seriously don't know why this weakness hasn't been exploited.
they can't scan every container; and even if it could be done, it would break our economy (food would rot, shipping prices would skyrocket, etc.)

hey....isn't that what they tried to do on 9/11....

"hmmm" indeed.

The whole airport security thing is a joke, just a multi-million dollar program to make nervous soccer moms feel safe flying. There are a thousand ways to bring an airliner down if someone smart really wants to do it.

Let me try dig up that article. It was really interesting, very quick, and surprisingly cheap.

And the plan was to scan every container.
