Why do 5,000 roadies care about an indoor MTB park?BurlyShirley said:Saw this at Bikeforums.
Here's a concept: a lot of people live in places where there are little or no mountains at all.Funky Monk said:haha, cool.
I like the way "mountain biking" is going these days...
Not to mention that 6 months out of the year Cleveland is a nasty mud slurpee.Ridemonkey said:Here's a concept: a lot of people live in places where there are little or no mountains at all.
Looks like fun.
does anyone else but me see the ridiculous irony in this?dwaugh said:I like to be outside when riding ladders, etc, in the trees where they are meant to be - on real trails.
I missed his comment originally, but now that you mention it, it is pretty funny.Transcend said:does anyone else but me see the ridiculous irony in this?
Yeah, but I try not to pick on dwaugh since he's only 7.Transcend said:does anyone else but me see the ridiculous irony in this?

What, ladders don't grow on trees in your area?
Ya I have got to say, i hate those stupid things outside (hi, i like dirt). But inside, over the winter, when there is 3 feet of snow outside, i could totally see myself enjoying them!MMcG said:Holy crap I just looked at the site and watched the video - that place is big and it looks like a ton of fun!
damn straight. I got so sick of rollers last winter i wanted to die.loco-gringo said:Hats off to em and pppffftttt to anyone that thinks it's lame. It'd be cool to have the option over the trainer.

"Fred is getting me a full size copy (24" X 36") of the parking lot plans. We will use the sheet showing the drainage area and draw (to scale) the placement of various technical features. We will also need to show the type of materials used. We will have to show the limits of construction (the extent of the area where the work will be done), silt fencing (placed/shown on the downgradient side of the LOC). If we will be working near any trees, we will need to show tree protection fencing on the plans as well. I do all that stuff at my job so I'm (way too) familiar with the process.
Once we have a set of plans ready, we will submit it to George Maldanado (Albert Perez's supervisor) and from their it will go to either Stewart Strong and/or the Parks Planning Board. Once approved by the Board, it will go to WPDR (City of Austin Watershed Protection and Development Review) to get permitted through PARD's General Permit. I do all that stuff at my job so I'm (way too) familiar with the process."[/qoute] :deadhorse:
and this is for an area designated as a MOTO park. No trails of coarse just an area next to the parking lot.
wait whats that a golden cheeked warbler.
TheInedibleHulk said:EHHH... cool... I guess. I hope these guys arent planning on making any money. Due to the negative population growth of cleveland the real estate is probably dirt cheap, but even so it seems like it would be difficult to draw enough riders to keep a place like that open. Personally Id rather just go to a good skatepark. Even so, its a cool idea, and its certianly the best thing to come out of Ohio recently.
actually, depends how much he charged. I had a whole budget worked out for a place about that size to stay open in a much more realistically priced market. Figure $4/sq ft (rent)+ $2sq/ft (for operations) (cnd).TheInedibleHulk said:EHHH... cool... I guess. I hope these guys arent planning on making any money.
