The newest addition to le stable, after my Russian mafia magnesium frame cracked at the seattube/toptube junction.

Just cleaned after a quick maiden voyage :weee:

Got it free from the shop that sponsors my team (Revolution ROCKS! ) It's a 1996 Parkpre Proimage...7005 Easton Elite tubeset (I'm sure the oldskool XC racers around here will know of them.) Weighs 3.03 lbs. It's like my Schwinn Homegrown...AGAIN! YAY!

Anyway, I'm swapping the tires for some IRC Serac USTs and Maxxis rim strips, as well as the stem/bars (TT is a wee short for me) and replacing my broken levers. So shiny...now I just need to remove Gerard the Hairy Pornstar from my downtube.

Thats because not many folks know anything about Parkpre. They had some good top end sh*t. If you have one of the FTW team framesets that would be really cool. Look at the BB and see if the serial # starts with FTW.

Nope. Don't know who this one belonged to (It was in the shop's warehouse), but the owner raced for Parkpre and Cozy back in the day. It was almost stock when I tore it down, had the hot hot Manitou SX cart fork, XT/XTR 8 speed gruoppo, WTB Powerbeam wheels...

Nice bike. I like reviving old iron, although I have not encountered anything that fancy.
Me too. I'm still on the look out for one of these...

A little ahead of it's time. Fat Chance were cool.
I lusted after the Shock A Billy when it came out. Too expensive for me at that time though. These days I am thinking about maybe an Independent Fab frame. Nice steel hard tail for some XC.

Do you really ride with the seat that high? :looney::dead:
Dude. You need to go ride up some hills. :p

I do ride up hills. But...that is way high. How could someone even get on that. I would have to stand on the edge of a 5' drop to get on it. Maybe it has something to do with me being 5'3. :D

What kills me is seeng people on the trail pedalling around with their knees in their chest. If I don't get full leg extension when pedalling my back almost instantly knots up. Seat height should not be set on how far you are from the ground, at least for XC, trail and road riding.

Is it me, or does my seat angle look ridiculously slack?
It does - I noticed that. Also your (visible) seat post is almost as long as the seat tube, that some extension you have there. (Not a criticism, just a comment.)

Looks nice and shiny. :)

Yeah. Frame is a little small on me (I should be on a 19, this is a 17), but it will work (I'm 6'0). The slackness of the seattube, combined with my tall (for this frame) 100mm fork is causing me to wheelie out on most steeper climbs in the saddle. Hence, I'm getting a 120mm stem and flat bar (along with moving the saddle forward on the rails) to try and fix it. If that doesn't do any good, I'll see if it's possible to drop my fork to 80mm of travel.

Perhaps its the funky old geometry, but this is quite possibly the best hardtail I've ever ridden whilst attacking. It flies, and tracks like a beast. However, the slacker seat angle makes throwing yourself out of the saddle tougher. We'll see. I'd really like some uberlight wheels for it, as they're the current pork item, but a disc front and a rim brake rear wheel...ehhh...

Lolz. I was 8 or 9 when this frame was rolled out. Weird.

I do have some hot Profile Design ano bar ends lying around somewhere...I really need some purple ano parts, though. Cook Bro cranks, maybe purple Profile stem, post, bars...

They call that a Yeti 575 now.
I think the Yeti get's a little more travel. :p The front triangle on the Shock A Billy is steel, rear is an AMP Research. At one time it was a pretty happenin bike.
