Son gets marijuana for doing homework

2 hours, 7 minutes ago

A woman admitted to smoking marijuana daily with her 13-year-old son to reward him for completing his homework. Amanda Lynn Livelsberger, 30, pleaded guilty to several charges Monday and will be sentenced Nov. 27.

Livelsberger, of Conewago Township, admitted in Adams County court that she had been smoking marijuana with her son since he was 11, and that she often gave it to him as a reward.

The boy told police that he was required to do his homework as soon as he got home from school, and then was allowed to smoke marijuana with his mother, according to court documents.

Livelsberger pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of corruption of minors, possession with intent to deliver drug paraphernalia, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of a small amount of marijuana with intent to distribute.

The plea did not stipulate a sentence.

The woman also said she also smoked marijuana with two of her son's friends, ages 17 and 18, police said. The 18-year-old also told investigators he had also bought heroin from Livelsberger.

Ahhh, family bonding at its best!

The family that smokes together, stays together.....and goes out on late night munchie trips.

as long as you get married right after, of course.

is this one of those sphinx-like questions: "i'm sitting in the only occupied stall w/ a shopping bag besides each of my legs, & i'm eating a quince. what color are my trousers?"

so a dad sharing a beer with his son is a-ok, but smoking a little weed is shocking, horrifying and grounds for infertility? jeez, tough crowd. :bonk:
You have a point, but giving an 11year old mind expansive stuff.. I dunno about the negative effects it might/might not have, I too am a victim of anti drug propaganda.

At least he was motivated to do his homework.

Something I never ever did. It was a waste of my time.
The end doesn't necessarily justify the means but I think if the kid was doing well and not an obvious f*ck-up then I hope that was a mitigating circumstance. A 30 year old mum with a 13 year old kid is not someone who you'd think has a stellar record of "making the right choices".
Still I can imagine the tut-tutting from the suburbs. "Imagine that, mari-ju-wana to a child, some people need to be locked up. Now little Johnny, come take your ritalin".

Well, the 'selling heroin' bit does tend to raise an eyebrow, too...

Yeah. The mom has a couple strikes against her (ala heroin, having him at 17), and it doesn't seem she'd be promoting responsible use of marijuana.

Otherwise, I wouldn't really see it as different than sharing a beer with your kid. 13 is a bit young, though.

What if the mom gave her son a six pack for a reward?
