I am looking to put a good set of brakes on my 2008 Marin Mount Vision. I am knid of torn between what to go with. Afetr doing a little research, I have narrowed it down to either the Hope Mini X2 pro, or the Hayes Stroker Gram. Since my Marin is already heavy, I wanted to go with a light brake set. I am 240lbs, and could use all the stopping power with reduced weight that I can get...lol What does everyone think is the better brake? I am open to suggestions on any other brands also. Thanks:D

I'm a big fan of all of Hope's brakes, and the mini x2 is no exception. If you can spend the money, I'm not sure there's an equal to the Hopes. I personally like the Shimano XT brakes as another option. If you're looking to increase stopping power, get a 185 rotor (as long as it fits) instead of 160.

I have been using Hayes Stroker Carbons on my current ride - very similar design to the Gram. I'm not thrilled with them. They have been a PITA to keep properly adjusted. I'm probably going to switch over to XT (but you could go XTR if you are freaked about weight) -- I think the Shimano's are a better brake than Hayes.
