Its a Shimano sealed BB...Never got immersed in water... Never wanked on.... NOTHIN!..... Did it get installed like crap? would that matter? How long should one last these days...I've put around 2k on the damn thing now but come on....They should last longer than that shouldnt they?:monkey:

Shimano BB... but what model? Litespeed road or MTB? 2000 mtb miles is quite alot for a cheap BB, Shimano or not. However... if this is on your road bike. You got hosed... warranty time! ;)

PS: I always tell my mechanic that my hubs and BB have never immersed in water. It's a good story that I stick with!

It's sealed. I say bad apple. Take it back.
Whoops, I read it wrong..

anyways, the cups can make noises under pedaling, one trials rider i know has to dip his whole bb into great before almost any ride so it doesn't creak. Sealed bearings still do have to be lubed up, shimano bb's get put together pretty quickly.

Yep, probably the threads need to be regreased. Too many shops just install them with the factory stuff which will start to creak within a few months of riding.

yeah shimano has the tendency w/ hubs, and BB's to not put enough grease in em. so whenever you buy a shimano wheelset or BB. crack it open and grow an ass load of grease in there and you'll get a good life time out of it.
