I can't believe people are getting so worked up about free email. 
That's stupid.
Gmail filters into the bulk mail folder. So what? Put gmail.com in your safe list and live happily ever after.
People like to make such a big deal out of such small things. Hotmail and Yahoo are private enterprises - if they want to filter a competitor into Bulk Mail, well, maybe that's not the most ethical thing in the world, but you're bound by the rules of the private service you're using.
