Hi,

I'm thinking about making the switch to XT hydros. Anyway, I currently run Hayes HMX mechs, which I like, but I'm looking for something with more modulation. Are the XT hydros a good brake in terms of power and modulation?

Hey Colin,

If you can get them cheap, go for it man. I've been using XT since I could remember and they don't give any problems. I have used 6" rotors front n rear and change only recently to 8" front when I got the Nicolai. The trick is when you bleed them, take them off your bike and tap the hose a bit. You'll be suprise how much bubbles would float up. Other stuff that could make the set better are better brake pads, better brake hoses.

I'm using XT hydros with Koolstop pads and Alligator brake hoses and for the price I pay, nothing could beat them :thumb:

Hope this help dude!!

Dude, for two bikes I'm not sure man. But for me since I've used them... if I bulid another bike (which I'm planning to) I'll stick to them that's for sure. Wouldn't want to spend that much on the other names, not that I have anything against any makes. Stick to what works for you. Just follow the tips and you'll probably love them the way I do :)

Hey dude, check out my setting, somehow it gives a little more bite in the rear... (Like I said: what works for you... haha!!)
