Thanks,Guys from HARPERS Shaun,John,etc.did a great job!
All the Pro's were freindly at Bigfoot & Winrock too.{Especially when you ask them something-they always inspire confidence no matter how slow or fast you are. I think that's real cool.}
My forearms were obliterated after 3 sport runs..& felt like a heart attack after the 1'st run. That's what happens if you NEVER train for "racing"...
About 30 more DH/Freeride runs are needed in the future.13 total runs in the last 3 years just doesn't cut it for "racing"-.aye..
Minus all the crashes today, it was cooool .
I highly recommend it.
Joe Haley ..you da man.....

I had a blast out there yesterday at practice, but completely wore myself out. I had to head home and duck out on the race day.

Man it was fun though, I had way too many wipe outs on my first two runs, got some new gouges in my helmet, got to test out all the body armor.

The courses were fun though, expert was a bit over my head in the steep muddy section, but you never get better unless you try to step it up! I was glad that I ended the day with a run down trail 1, I needed that more wide-open speed trail to finish up the day!

I would say that drop off the road at Winrock was this tall ...
It was fun going into it blind w/o hitting it in months, when it was Smaller..

Had a blast. Just got home. I was going to race both MTX & DH, but on Saturday went to practice at Windrock(first time DH+ maiden voyage for bike) started on expert course 50ft into it I wrecked and rung my bell pretty good(tore off visor and big gash on new helmet). After I could see somewhat straight met up with the guys I went up with at the begining of the sport/beginner course I took that route, and they continued on the expert trail. Then about halfway down wrecked again this time breaking both brake levers and managed to wedge my chain between my frame and chainguide. So I had to walk the bike the rest of the way down. So no racing for me at all this weekend.

Wanted to say thanks to Shaun & John from Harpers for putting on a good weekend including the movie premier. Troy from Columbia,SC for the shuttle up Sat. Doug(profro) for the advice.

Ended up getting some good pics at MTX yesterday and DH today, so I will post soon.

I just wanted to say I had yet another amazing windrock weekend! Just wanted to say a few things...

First off, you expert/pro guys are nuts. That muddy chute was rediculous!

Dude on the red bighit with the flowmaster sticker has some serious balls. He wrecked hard twice, knocked his wheel clean off, and jumped back on.

Sorry about your rear der. Ben, that blows.

Ok, thats about it i guess. Now, Im going to go to windrock in my head....ahhh

Oh- Super 8 status: still kickin'

Jeremy jacked himself up on that muddy chute....has what looks like a golf ball unde the skin of his right knuckle. His left trigger finger looked like a troll's toe. He was wanting the series overall so bad that he hopped on his bike and rode and hobbled his way down the mountain for the overall.

His gutsy little effort earned him a shiny, NEW BOXXER RACE!!!! Big props to the Gimp! My effort was less than stellar. the new section was so physical that I could barely hold onto my bike in it. Herndon put a retarded time on all of us with a 4:17.....30 second gap to McCoy...on a 4 inch trailbike??? Ryan Taylor pinned 'er trying to match Herndon and got knocked on both runs.

I will. I'm seeing my hand specialist tomorrow, so I will know then.
I'm hoping I just broke my hand not my wrist, or at the very least, not that damn scaphoid bone again. Check this out, My index and middle finger are screwed and hurt like crazy, and I jammed my index finger on the other hand, so I pretty much had no braking fingers. So, I tape it up and ride down windrock for my race run. As far as dumbest things I have ever done, this ranks up there to when I touched that electric fence just to "see what it felt like." :blah:
Anyway, the event and the prizes were great.
Maxxis did a great jop with the series and all their prizes, and with SRAM sponsoring the Windrock races, I walked away with a new boxxer for the series.
That is unheard of around here. Big thanks to Harper's bike shop for
rounding up the swag.

I was totally not in shape mentally and physically to race that course. After being off the bike due to an injury for so long it was hard to get in enough riding to have the endurance needed for that course. I couldn't belive how fast I blew up. But on a good note I wrecked 5 times in my race run, still managed second but more importantly I got a bunch of wrecking back in my system. That good, it helped shed a lot of my fears about getting hurt again.

BTW if anyone has an video footage of me wrecking off the Jawbone, let me know I would love to see how tard I looked.

Big thanks to everyone who made their way to Windrock and Bigfoot for the Maxxis series finals. Major props to Jeremy for the "Eye of the tiger" effort to win the expert overall. I tried to snake it but Jeremy rose to the challenge as he did all season long. Props to Chris Herndon for pinning it all day clocking 10 runs on a pretty unforgiving course.

Next year hopefully will be even better so keep it locked.

Look for an early training series at Windrock in the spring!

Thanks to:
Jon, Shaw, Joey, Brian, Mark, and Doug for all the hard work in putting together two excellent events.
Maxxis and Jaun for the huge support
All the racers who are dwon for the South.

On his first run, through the muddy chute, he was going easily as fast as Herndon or Travis Bond, but then he kinda hit this tree going about mach 5. I thought he was dead. :dead: But nope, he got back on his bike (which i cant believe isnt snapped in half.) Mark got a cool video of it.

That sucks Doug, what happened at the Jawbone?

I was way to tentative and lost control in the rocks after the second, little drop. I was trying to cross over the rocks from the right to the left and just lost the bars. It was totally my fault and I was too tired. I face planted pretty hard and saw a flash of white when I hit the ground face first. Funny thing is that was the slowest I have ever hit that section, but I was so bonked that I just could not ride in control. :nopity:

But I'm unhurt heading to the National Championships in Mammoth and I really amped to get there and ride.

Oh man, I did a run on snakerock after the races and I resisted my cushy seat and I was blazing! Good advice Doug.

in a single wide, cooking meth...
Well, being this is my first season of DH racing, I'm not sure my take is worth much - but this was the sickest (i.e. best) DH course I have ever ridden...Blows away all the others IMHO...The Expert course was just that, a real damn expert course...But supremely fun, especially the top section...But, I dinged my hip pretty good on the super steep wet section (need padded shorts for sure) on Saturday, so raced Sport instead - which still was just sublime...God what a great freaking course, I just can't stop saying that...I'm still jacked up...But, killed my Chris King freehub body and busted up my rear shock bushing on my Bullit :mumble:

But, that's the price you pay for so much unadulterated fun...Plus, I won some pimping gold Primo flat pedals...So a good time indeed...I'll be back as much as possible...

And I have to give more props to dhracer on the red Big Hit...He crashed hard 5 times on the way down (and for the record, 1 bad wreck like that would prolly make a pansy like me quit and walk, or limp, out) and tore his rear wheel out of the drop outs...Dude was determined to make it down...Or, as his stoically put it: "It was just the shortest way back to the parking lot"...Now we just need to get him a real bike :D and he may be next Travis Bon in few years...

Big thanks to Harpers (Shawn and Juan - good to meet you guys), Maxxis, Merrell (especially the Merrell rep   ), and all the good folks who helped put the event together and build this bad ass course...

Ed

(Oh yeah, I almost forgot: God, what a great freakin course...)

I had a blast, even if i was sliding down the poop-chute superman style. I would have liked to see a better "race," but next year I bet they'll get the trails sorted out. Aside from Chris (the only one that could ride down the hill) it came down to luck more than anything.

For me, it was kinda odd riding into something I knew I was not going to make it out of. It was like intentionally climbing out on a dead tree limb...

oh yeah, and you'd all laugh if you saw my hands. they're black and blue all over. I can hardly type! :D

Thats funny. I like that anolgy.

I am actually disappointed in my choice of tires. I should have stayed with what I have been riding for the past several months.

bite me....you got 2nd on your little midget rig. :thumb:

The most screwball part was all of our second runs were not any faster than our first runs. Herndon even said he pedaled a boatload more on his second run and it made 4/10's of a second difference.

I'm getting a better bike for next year.

No more racing on the Rotec. Too big, too heavy, too damn long. I need something that handles better.

I want say thanks for the great season. The swag at Windrock is great; even if I didn't take any home. Thanks Juan and Maxxis for all the tires (I did get one of those).

I appreciate jeremyR and Bloch and nuutypoo for dibs on their rigs. I just don't have any cash saved up yet.
