well i am trying to copy an application (from a non-networked work pc)to a disc to take home and put on my computer how the hell do i do it?

it is microsoft works or word or whatever it is called. i just need something other than notepad on my computer.

It'd be a giant PITA to "copy" an M$ application. Some vendors make such a task trivial, but not M$.

You can save documents in .doc (M$ Word format) with OpenOffice. Or better yet, save in Rich Text format (.rtf) and almost any word processor can open it.

Well, then you should have the install media from the original install of M$ Works or whatever it is.

AbiWord is decent freeware. You can save in Rich-text format and, I believe, .doc format.
