Thanks, we'll see what happens. It's on the truck in amazonland.I've encountered the same and a bearing puller worked perfectly.

Bearing pullers with a slide hammer are so fuckin awesome when you already have one and you need it. The only problem is you rarely need it.Thanks, we'll see what happens. It's on the truck in amazonland.
I use mine whenever wheel bearing changes are required.Bearing pullers with a slide hammer are so fuckin awesome when you already have one and you need it. The only problem is you rarely need it.
I should use mine for that too. I haven’t in the past.I use mine whenever wheel bearing changes are required.
Can you post a link to the one you ordered? Thanks, we'll see what happens. It's on the truck in amazonland.
Mine was just a cheap one from ebay years ago.Can you post a link to the one you ordered?
kind of.Have you tried magnets yet?
Umm, if you managed to heat the steel race, wouldn't it expand in place, making its extraction harder?kind of.
I have an induction stove. I figured I could heat up the steel race and that might just drop the thing out (plus maybe the vibrations???). It didn't work, there wasn't enough mass to engage the element.
I may try heating to 150*C/300F in the toaster oven later though. We'll see.
Why are you so attracted to magnets?Have you tried magnets yet?
Actual lol.According to some, you can just think about it and it happens.

a little jewlers saw would be fine to cut that race.
but how the heck you not already have a dremel?
Your join date indicates that you have been on Ridemonkey since peak file/hammer/bend days of bike mechanic arts.

That’s remarkably accurate"Why have the right tool for a job when you can use the wrong one?" -Sandwich (probably)
Congratulations, now on to the next challenge...Hh
fuckin thing
Now get a small sandblaster and hit the inside of the frame where the race was with baking soda.
And anti-seize prior to inserting the replacement race.No one likes a crusty hole, but scotchbrite will suffice.
Tread lightly, There aren't too many critical dimensions on a bike, but that is one of them.I think I’m going to powder coat it and the frame will be sandblasted prior. I’ll probably take a little Emory cloth or fine grit sandpaper to it before then.
Only if you want to fuck up the fit. That's why I suggested blasting with baking soda - it'll remove corrosive crap without significantly affecting the base material.I think I’m going to powder coat it and the frame will be sandblasted prior.
