so yesterday...
one of the Brass fittings that connect the remote reservior to the shock body fail on my Balfa,,Just broke off, and since i like to learn about things by DOING-IT..I decide to take it apart and try to fix it...

Now the hose is fix, in fact is far better than use to be, I use a nice braided motorcycle brake line,(same diamenter, same treaded fitting, everything is fine spect for the fact the Shock is not working for S^^T...

so what did I do wrong!?!?!
First i fill in the shock body(with out the spring offcourse) pumping the shock a bunch of times until was "Totally Fulll"(I think), I continue by taking the brass fitting at the reservior and refill in the fluid until it was totally full(again "I think") for the remote reservior I also release the air out to increase volume capacity,,,

so the question is what did I dio wrong!?!?

To Much Oil?
to little?
I'm ussing SAE-5 maybe I need denser.

I look at the avalanche site and i was unable to find any information also i call them but they are close until the 26 of july

anyway you can call me Dumm if you want to,, for sure I feel like a idiot, I have done a bunch of motorbike forks and for sure a few bike shocks and forks but this is the first time I'm totally clueless abnout what is happening..

Duhh, i did not tell you what the problem is..

the shock returns extremlly fast when compress,,,yes I try it with out the spring, or at least with very light preload and still returns very abruptlly, the rebound knob is pretty much inoperable,,,a.k.a. useless

any clues, Hinds or tips will be more than welcome.

Oooookay...

You can bring to a MX shop for them to rebuild it for you (or go through the trouble of sending it back to Avalanche).

I was going to post the instructions for how to change the hose on a Stratos El Jefe since they're both (Avalanche and Stratos) almost the same shock. BUT, I remembered YOU have nitrogen in your resevoir. You have to let the nitrogen out and then refill the oil a specific way in order to not let any air in the hose or shock body (I don't even know what kind of shock/fork oil Craig uses but it must be specific to his custom tuning). Because once the shock is back together with oil in it with NO air bubbles whatsoever, the resevoir bladder is filled with nitrogen to pressurize the shock's internals...that's the extent of my understanding what happens in there. Either way, you'll need a MX shop to re-charge your shock with Nitrogen once it's refilled properly.

If it was a Stratos El Jefe, I could tell you how to do it (I've changed hydraulic fittings on mine) but it uses air. If I were you, I'd stop where you are and wait to get to a shop and ask to have it refilled with the proper oil and nitrogen.

Thanks Chris...

I have a million friends at Motorcycle shops, since that is a big part of my business,, I was not sure about the Nitrogen or the proper procedure to bring the shock back to spect...

thank you very much for the elaborate explanation,,I don't feel so bad now.
