A woman who lay bleeding on the emergency room floor of a troubled inner-city hospital died after 911 dispatchers refused to contact paramedics or an ambulance to take her to another facility, newly released tapes of the emergency calls reveal.
Relatives said Rodriguez was bleeding from the mouth and writhing in pain for 45 minutes while she was at a hospital waiting area. Experts have said she could have survived had she been treated early enough.
Oh it get's better

Relatives reported she died as police were wheeling her out of the hospital after the officers they had asked to help Rodriguez arrested her instead on a parole violation.
In the recordings of two 911 calls that day, first obtained by the Los Angeles Times under a California Public Records Act request, callers pleaded for help for Rodriguez but were referred to hospital staff instead.

“I’m in the emergency room. My wife is dying and the nurses don’t want to help her out,” Rodriguez’s boyfriend, Jose Prado, is heard saying in Spanish through an interpreter on the tapes.

“What’s wrong with her?” a female dispatcher asked.

“She’s vomiting blood,” Prado said.

“OK, and why aren’t they helping her?” the dispatcher asked.

“They’re watching her there and they’re not doing anything. They’re just watching her,” Prado said.
Federal inspectors say patients at King/Harbor's emergency room are in immediate jeopardy of harm or death. The hospital faces a possible shutdown if changes are not made in the next couple of weeks, and federal funding is at stake.
Possible shutdown? WTF.

more of it....

Hospital video cameras captured some of the incident involving Rodriguez, the newspaper reported.

"Nobody wanted to help him," said Marcela Sanchez, a sister of Rodriguez. "When he tapped on the windows to tell the nurses that she needed help and that she was on the floor, they didn't want to pay attention to him."

Prado also said he told officers that Rodriguez was bleeding from the mouth, and a sergeant responded in Spanish that it was chocolate, not blood.

I can definitely understand why and how the police acted the way they did. And it's perfectly reasonable for 9-1-1 to NOT dispatch an ambulance to someone who's INSIDE a hospital. If a hospital is denying treatment to a 'patient', then there must be a reason... that's what 9-1-1 is probably thinking and I agree.

However, it doesn't say why she was denied treatment. I think the spotlight shouldn't be on 9-1-1, the police or dispatcher, but the hospital.

If I was her husband, I'd go buy a gun off of a crack dealer and go kill me some doctors and admins.

Yep. The triage nurse, specifically, should be the one answering some questions...

[Republican] Well, she should have never been let across the border in the first place, then she would not have died here, and Jose would not be able to get a big settlement from the hospital so he can buy a brand new full size chevy truck pimped into a low rider with an airbrushed painting of his late wife on the hood. Arresting someone, AND THEN TAKING THEM AWAY, that is vomiting blood in a hospital emergency room seems perfectly reasonable.
Well, it's un-American for a start. Probably mistook her for a gay, commie terrorist.

(They're not very smart you know.)

Spend alot of time studying your hamster's dick?
It's hard to find, so in relative terms yes.

Anyway, cut me some slack - it's 22:15 and I'm sat in a lousy hotel room working on some crap that'll never fly. In many ways I'd rather be studying hamsters' dicks.
