Dan, yours is slower. The higher the KB/sec means they are sending more packets of information per second, thus faster.

Hendron, VA ( at least that is what they tell me )

There are about 400 Speed test sites out there. this is one of about 10 different ones we use at work ( my Company sell Network Analysis software ) and For interent Speed tests , they always go to Hendron, VA , from any place in the world just about eveything goes through there.

It's cable. 3+ kbps is about as slow as I see, it'll sneak up into the mid-5's in off hours.

Speakeasy hits 4025kbps and 500kbps - I'm capped at 500kbps upload.

I'd like to see that 30mbps FiOS line do the speed test ;)

if i just booted up, will my internet speed be faster? ive noticed that pages take longer to load when i have been online for a few hours.

that site dosnt work well for me, getting really odd results, some way below my line speed and some way above, maybe because i'm in the uk? i dunno how it works.

anyway i used http://www.adslguide.org.uk and zdnet.co.uk both can up with very similar results.


Downstream 3840 Kbps (480.0 KB/sec) 4147 Kbps (inc. overheads)
Upstream 358 Kbps (44.8 KB/sec) 386 Kbps (inc. overheads)

i'm on a cable 4meg line with 384 upload, so all seems as it should.

With cable. I did it first while I was pulling an ISO image down and it was faster while downloading, this was after the download was completed. Funny how that is.
