I don't know, man. A downhill I hit in Hartland is three miles long.MMcG said:Babs - I betcha we can get you faster than that on some of the Burlington Hills!!!!
it's weird... back when this post got started, I was more aware/paid more attention to my speed. Some sections of road always gave similar speeds... within 2-3mph of each other. Other sections were off by as much as 10mph. I think it has to do with a lot of conditions/factors we have no control over... wind, pavement condition, etc.I Are Baboon said:The fastest I have ever gone is 43. whats a cow grate?ito said:Eeek!
Cow grates are scary. We have one in the hills here that is in the middle of a turn on a 17 degree hill. The first time I hit that was right after a rain. I want to kill whoever installed it there.

Or something like that.http://www.texasmonthly.com/mag/issues/1984-05-01/primer.php said:The concept is ingenious: Cattle have an instinctive fear of falling and injuring themselves, especially their legs. If you put something in their way that they cannot readily walk across, and dig a pit under it to intensify the appearance of danger, they will stopwell, 99 percent of them will stop.
Yeah... he needs some 19mm 180+psi tubulars...MMcG said:Skinnier tires?
sanjuro said:That reminds me of almost crashing coming down Leggett Hill in NorCal.
I was touring from Seattle to SF, and 3 of us was behind a guy pulling a bob trailer. He normally went ahead of us on descents because of all the weight he was pulling. But Leggett, about 4500', was very winding, and he started veer over the double yellow on curves.
He came over the road lines at a blind turn, and a car almost hit him head on at 40mph. We were right behind him, and there would have been no way to avoid slamming into him or the car.
Luckily the driver was alert and swerved wide, and the rider with the trailer was able to miss the car. He rode down at 20mph the rest of way.

I hit 49.6 in Vermont the other day with minimal effort (I'm rounding up to 50 ). We need bigger hills in Connecticut.I Are Baboon said:The fastest I have ever gone is 43. Either our hills are small or I just suck. Probably the latter.
