whole pack of 20 somethings racing their rice rockets downhill on highway 9 towards San Jose when something went wrong and one went over the centerline where he hit a chrysler 300 head on then got run over by the 300's wheels

we were first on scene with our rescue followed by a CDF engine and E30 out of Saratoga. Our second engine shut down 9 at the summit and our 3rd engine set up an LZ for Life Flight....

Bugger was in bad shape when he left in the Ambulance

Motorcycle rider injured in Highway 9 crash
By Leslie Griffy
Mercury News
An unlicensed motorcycle rider is in the hospital with bruised lungs and a ruptured spleen after he lost control of a borrowed bike and slid it under a Chrysler near Saratoga this afternoon.

Witnesses to the crash said the rider, George M. Velasquez, 20, of Castroville, was riding a Kawasaki motorcycle at a high rate of speed when he lost control.

The bike slid on the roadway and under an oncoming Chrysler on north Highway 9 about 11:17 a.m.

The roadway was closed in both directions for about an hour and 20 minutes as Velasquez was airlifted out and officers investigated the crash.

Velasquez, who was wearing a helmet, is expected to survive.

is he going to get a hefty bill for the airlift given his unlicensed status?

wait, I could swear I saw ben Rothlisberger playing today?

at least this idiot was wearing a lid.

I think everyone involved should be given a misdermeanor and be required to share the expense to the driver and city, especially the fvcktard who lent him the bike.

I would never ever let someone ride with me in the mountains who didn't have the necessary licensing and experience in less dangerous conditions. And then, if it's their first time, I'd make sure they were just getting a taste of it. Dumbfvcks all of 'em.

Wow, I used to ride that same road all the time, on both the road bicycle and the moto.

So, are there more fatalities with bicyclists or motorcyclists on Hwy 9?

never worked a fatal Bicycle crash on 9 and very few bicycle crashes overall[3-5 per year]

we have 3-4 motorcycle crashes per week and perhaps 4 fatals a year..last one was a rice rocket going 130 mph that impacted into the front end of a GMC Yukon...he survived for about 8 minutes post impact...all 3 in the Yukon were un injured

the other riders maybe but it seems that the paper would have mentioned it if he was DoD.

at least he was wearing a decent jacket and a helmet. i will NEVER take an unexperienced rider in the mountains again. (not like i have a bike right now anyway :( ) i took a buddy i served with on a canyon run back in '99. he told me that he had been riding "for years". He had just bought a brand new CBR 600 F3 and wanted me to take him out on some local san diego runs. well, i led into a long, fast sweeper heading down to La Jolla beach and i looked in my mirror and saw him lock it up and slide through the corner right into the cliffside. took me and a passing motorist about 2 or 3 minutes to find him......about 20' up on the cliff, twitching and bleeding from his head. Broken C2 and 6 months in a halo. funny kid though, really good attitude about it. so for that reason, i am now very picky about who i'll ride with.
