I spend at least an hour and a half on the commute, then at work i'll drive up to another 2 hours. Its sickening. My only bike is a DS1 with about 6 gears I can actually get to, so no way I'm gonna ride to work. I don't have my own car, though, so when I go back to school it's back to two wheels

My commute is only about 5 minutes each way, but while at work I often have to go sit in my car for a few hours so I can cry uncontrollably in private.

If I'm staying with the g/f: about 35 minutes each way.

If I'm at my house: about 1:15 each way.

One of the main reasons I ride my road bike more than my mtn bikes these days is I don't drive anywhere to ride road. Out the front door and go! A mtn bike ride is 2-3 hrs of driving to/from the riding area. That's 2-3 hrs I could be RIDING!! :mumble:

30-40 minutes a day, not too bad. I'm seriously considering a roadie bike for commuting

If it's anything like around here. This poll would run pretty even to the amount of time you spend on the phone. It seems like you can't drive with out a phone stuck to your ear. But to answer your question 45 to hell, and 45 back. 4-5 minutes to the closest trail.

Dancin' over rocks n' roots!
to work: about 50-60 minutes each way (depending on traffic)
to ride: about 15 min. each way to a variety of sweet spots!

Luckily, I don't have to drive to school/work during the summer 'cause my AC hasn't been working in my car!

i actually don't work at home. :D in fact, i don't work at all now, heh. before i could and did walk or take the free streetcar to work (in portland, oregon) and was a bum/student before and after that brief period.

On the old job it was 3 hours in the commute alone. 1.5 hour there and 1.5 back. In this new gig I drive 30 - 45 min's there and 30 - 45 mins back. A long time to be sure, but but considering that I live in so cal, and work in the dreaded San Fernando valley, it's sadly not bad.

I really have to move outta so cal!

I usually spend about zero time in the car every day...maybe 20mins. if I need to do something I can't do on my bike, but that's not often. Oh, and 30mins. each way to Northstar at least once a week, my only real driving vice.

in dublin, it was 30 min in the morning, and anywhere from 40 to 90 mins on the way back (but typically about 45 min or so).

back in the US, it's 20 min each way. and i can ride trails virtually 90% of the way from my house to work if i want. :)

25 minute commute in the morning, which becomes a 45 minute or more return trip due to traffic. About 10 hours a week total for work/school. Add another 3 hours minimum per week driving to and from trails, usually 15-35 minutes each way depending on where I'm going.

I average $22 a week in tolls, $12-14 a week (sometimes much more) in gas. Those expenses, and all the wasted hours of my life driving, are why I'm looking for an apt downtown. That and I could actually ride my bike to the trails, which would be worth it in itself.

I haven't found anything I like in my budget yet.

Commuting sucks.

Usually 2.5 to 3.5 hours, but only 30 minutes of that is the commute. I do deliveries on the way home, so the more time I'm in the car = more money.

Normal day for me is 45 minutes in and about 45 to 90 minutes home depending on traffic. But now i am switching to swing so i am looking at a 50min to an hour commute round trip now.

i'd say about an hour a day avg.

thats 5 days without a car
then one trip to whistler and back = 5 hours
and one trip to the shore or other trails = 2 hours

biking to work is the best! :sneaky:
