assuming 128kbps and 4:00min songs, that comes out to 68,306 songs.
Im slowly filling my 320g i just got... so far only have a measly 30g or so of music.... thats still 6500 songs...
Good rule of thumb for mp3 tracks is 250 per gig. So thats roughly 62,500. Or if they average 4 miutes each 173.6 days of music. So it looks like you should be covered through mid March of '07
My collection is ~40,000 songs and ~250GB in size. I rip at 192 and include the album art inside the MP3 files themselves.
you could fit one reaaaaally long one uncompressed 
yonton nailed it...it depends on:
compression scheme you use (mp3, FLAC, m4a, wmv, ogg, etc)
bit rate used (i prefer the APX setting (alt-preset-extreme) using EAC/LAME
average length of song
for my stuff, a 4 minute song is about 6MB.
