it came with 3. i'm pretty sure I have a 73mm BB shell (weyless XP, anyone know for sure?).

can I just measure the width of the shell, or is that measurement more complicated than that?

i don't think it matters but I got the hone crankset that is a 2 ring w/bash. I read these are supposed to be stronger than the 3 ring. It feels fairly light compared to the RF cranks this is replacing.

You can just measure the shell, 68 or 73 refers to the actual shell width. As far as the set up with the spacers, read the manual that came with the cranks...tells you everything you need to know. If you did not get it, download it at shimano.com.

73mm shell = 1 spacer on the Drive side
68mm shell = 2 on the drive, 1 on the non-drive.
unless you're running an e-type BB, then it's 0 spacers with a 73mm shell.
