those trailpimps are burly but ive heard that there heavy as hell

and what headset is it. if its the steelset that thing itself weighs 50lbs(lol)

but every thing else is light well except maybee the dorado but you dont really have any other options and the dorado isnt that bad. and also how much did your frame weigh that could also affect it.

thats really no that havy of a build. How much do you weigh? If your a lighter rider, you could get away with lighter rims, and maybe some butted spokes. A lighter EA70 bar, or even carbon dh if you dare. A ti bottom bracket will save abit of weight. Going tubeless will also drop some weight, dh tubes are heavy! that still seems like a high number for your build though. are you sure your scale was accurate?

Your rims and tubes are overkill and can save you a lot of weight. Also, since they are rotating mass will make your bike feel SOOO much faster when you drop weight there.

DH tubes +1.25# each (over xc)
Trailpimps (+.5# each over 321)
straight 14g spokes (.25# over double butted)
----------
=~3-4# in the wheels alone
And 3-4# in the wheels feels like dragging 10-15# out of every corner!

Mine weighted 46 lbs with:

Medium DH9
Shiver w/ direct mount stem
Hayes Mag 8"
Shimano Ultegra 8 speed
SRAM PC 89 chain
Azonic Doublewall bars
Thomson Elite Seatpost
Flite Saddle
Hadley Hubs on Mavic 729s with Stan's NoTubes with Maxxis Tubeless DHFs
Profiles with Ti spindle
MRP Slolam System 2
Azonic A Frame Pedals

I just droped my Shiver for a Slider Plus, so I am hoping to lose close to 1.5-2.0 lbs. Which should put me i the 44lbs range. I also plan to drop the Profiles for something lighter.

Stoney98 do you have an estimate of how much weight can be lost going from a Shiver with direct mount stem with Azonic DW to a Slider+ with a Thomson 50mm and a ProTaper?

Yeah, I've got a King. I am going to continue to abuse the Profiles through the winter, but depending on our sponsorship stuff I'll get some lighter cranks. Same for pedals and guide. Are E13s lighter than MRPs?

I was thinking of going to 721s, but right now I am having problems with dinging my 729s. When I run tubeless I get lazy and don't check the pressure like I should and I end up making a few runs at the beginning of the day with like 18 psi. So I needlessly have a few doosies in the rear rim. But 80% of the time I run standard DH casing tires with XC tubes and I don't flat all that much. Well, I haven't flatted since early July.

So it is safe to say that the shiver is 2# heavier than a slider+? Would a carbon DH bar (FSA or Easton) offer any really weight savings?

I started running 32psi fo almost everything, super dusty abit less, usually 30psi. With XC tubes I don't pinch, I roll faster, and since my style is VERY drift oriented (as should anyone on a lawill dh-9's should be) I'm able to break away with control easier. See the clips of graves on the dh-9 in clay's new teaser. That's how you ride a yeti, and that's what higher pressure is good for.
I usually run 30-35 psi with XC tubes and I do find the tires to bite harder and I am starting to like it a lot better than the days of 25 psi. In certain places is tough, but I adjust and find myself feeling faster over the whole course. I wonder how the 303 will ride in that respect to the Lawill bikes? I am very comfortable breaking the rear loose. In MTNx I usually run a Larsen in the rear to use control slides and breaks.

in case of running xc tubes intead of DH tubes
whats the pressure i should run in my tires, i`m a 220lbs rider...
I would suggest 35psi, then come down. Also I have found sucsess in adding baby powder in the tires to limit pinch flats. But more importantly you have to learn how to ride light. I have been learning on a trail system that I know very well and the skills are starting to translate to other places.

I'm 155 and with xc tubes I can get away with ~23psi with 2.35 tires w/ Dh casings. I'd guess if you're running 2.5 or 2.7 tires with XC tubes even a big guy should be just fine with 28-30, more if you like firm tires.

And no I don't normally ride with that little pressure in my tires, but I have on occasion not checked the pressure in my tires before a ride and only half way through or after I notice that my tires are really squishy. For referance I ride typical dusty SoCal trails that have lots of square edged rocks ranging from the size of your big toe to the size of your head. Since the fires last fall there have been lots of tree stumps that I've been hitting too, those always leave that sick feeling like you just flatspotted your rim when you hit them.

I have never weighed my DH9 but everyone who has tried to lift it says she's a pig. Funny thing though, the faster we go the lighter she gets. :D

How do you all weigh your bikes? Bathroom scale? LBS scale? or do you drive through a truck stop scale?

Damn, I dig the weight. I am looking at the same crank and bb setup so how have they worked out? Also, got any pics of you bashguard?

Ah, wax on, wax off thompason.
The best block is no be there, thompason.

Sweet build.
My bike was built similar at the start of the season.
And each time I broke something, I replaced it with something
stronger. Its a good way to find your limits of what you can get away with. :D
