you mean the IP you are being assigned by your ISP??? or the IP you are being assigned internal (like behind a switch)??

You can try going, START, RUN, type "cmd", type "ipconfig /release", then type "ipconfig /renew"

BUT you will likely be reassigned a lease to the very same IP

^^ that should work.

If not try this...

If you are on broadband, unplug your modem (cable or DSL), leave it unplugged for a few minutes then plug it back in. You might get a new ip address.

Unix "IS" user-friendly. It is just picky about who its friends are...

ifconfig hme0 192.168.1.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.1.255

Yes, but you have to pay extra for it and you can only let one pair of eyes see it, and you have to re-register if you are going to read it more than once. And it doesn't work right anyway.
