I think they are ugly on my frame. HOW can i remove them? They are just plain canti studs, nothings else. Please let me know.

There should be an 8mm fitting at the base of them, and should just screw out. It may be really tight, so make sure you've got a good fit between the stud and wrench.

If you ever need to repaint the frame then take some time with some files and you can make it look like they where never there.

Yup. That's exactly what I was going to say. If you're gonna grind them off, use a Dremel tool or something of that nature. That will give you a nice smooth surface for the finished product.

usually they've got a bolt head at the bottom... if yours doesn't have them, i'd wonder if they weren't pressed in.....

make sure they're not like the studs on Marzocchi forks... they actually hold stuff together!

Last year, I wanted to remove my canti studs, so I took to them with a spanner, to have no luck. Vice grips weren't much better, so I did what had to be done: Fired up the blowtorch and heated the studs up. Not the smartest thing to do to a brand new Zaskar, but it sure got those studs out!
I just aimed the flame at the studs, tried as best I could to avoid the seatstays... the frame got hot, yes, but the paint didn't burn or anything, it was a pretty good job I must say.

I had a problem with some SunTour bosses on a Raleigh in shop a few years back. I contacted SunTour, they sent me some new bosses and a tool that fit perfectly around the boss so you could remove it with a bigger :monkey: wrench instead of a small 8mm open ended wrench. It's a nice addition to the toolbox.
