You can also use a rag and a pair of pliers if you dont have smooth grips. Or a vice and some soft jaws (brass or alum). Just go slow and rock the things back and forth to get them to start moving out. Once out a little you can also try to pry them like DHS said. I find if you dont get them out a little before prying you can damage the shock body. I'd rather have messed up spacers than a messed up shock, but thats just me.

in the last MTB action there was a tool.......$30 I think.....that was made for taking out shock bushings. It was pretty neat.

If not just use a press and some sized sockets to press it in and out. My shock on both my bikes is like this and that's what you have to do to change the spring. Kinda sucks if you ask me but it's the only way.

Are we talking about eyelet adaptors or bushings?

To remove the spring you'd just need to pull out the reducers, yeh? No special tools required, just a vicegrip or vice, and a rag or some aluminium/brass... pull the reducer out whilst rotating it, and all will be good.

Look inside the bushing with a flashlight, there is the main side and the cap. You'll see a line on the inside of the bushing. I use Channel lock plyers, and wrap the sh*t out of the jaws. Then gripping it vertical with the shock on the cap side of the bushing pull down. It will then snap off. When you are done lightly tap it back on with a hammer
