Thanks for the links dump, I'll check them out.

Ricehater: Most likely a DSLR. Mostly trying to think about whether to use an remote control mount to drive along a cable with a motor or the guy on a zip line style. The former seems to be more practical, less dangerous but perhaps harder to execute but the latter would negate the problems of getting a good shot and replace them with keeping the dude who's taking the footage alive.
The guy on the zip line style seems to be the most popular among freeride movie filmers. I saw that machine on a cable style camera at mont sainte anne but it looked like it would probably be difficult to build and execute properly.

Will read up on the links in the morning and perhaps actually know what I'm talking about!
