My machine is desperately old and needs all the help it can get. I don't think I have a terrible problem with spyware or anything. My IE is doing what I want it too.

But how do you clear out cache and cookies and hidden files....and just do a general clean-up?

1 - run anti virus
2 - run adaware and Search and destroy (similar programs but find different things)
3 - scan disk (mycomputer > right click drive > tools)
4 - Defragment
5 - Another way to clear temp files and cookies. Right click on the IE icon > properties > (you will have buttons to delete various temps and cookies)

That will do a general cleaning on top of clearing out cookies and temp files.

Cheers

It can't be that old if you're running XP. I assume you want to get a little performance boost from this cleanup? Perhaps the OS is too much for the machine - how much memeory are you running? What processor?

It should be there, plus you can got to the top of this page, tools, internet options, and you can clean out your temp file & cookies.

Yeah I found it. Right click, properties on the C: drive. I found the Disk cleanup.

Basically, my machine just BARELY runs XP. I defragged it last night...I'll see if it did anything noticeable. My hard drive was at 56% free. I haven't checked the results yet.

thanks guys!
