Just bought a Fox RP23. It's supposedly new, but the stanchion shows a pair of the tiniest scratches. I need to double check to make sure they aren't just dirt...but is this anything to worry about? The shock is otherwise near perfect, but I want to make sure it won't leak or get worse if I don't address it ASAP.

If it's brand new, I'd waste the time and get another one. They puke more oil than I'd like when they're perfect.

ah unfortunately I bought it from a guy on pinkbike. I'm not sure what to do. I wouldn't say it's damaged. I'll try and grab a photo tonight.

these are what I'm seeing. I'm not worried about the one higher up, it's hard to feel and my bike will be running a .25" spacer. It's the other one that makes me go hmmm.

That's nothing. You might want to buff that out with a really fine abrasive. Like those fine fingernail buffers. Dirt cheap and I got one that was really fine on one side and more fine on the other. I think it was 1200 and 1500 or so. If they feel smooth under you finger it's probably good.

What size is it? I have a 6.5 x 1.5 that's mint that I will turn into a crack pipe if I can't sell it. Which is a huge waste as I only do bath salts.

The seller and I worked out a deal that I was comfortable with. I'm gonna ride it and see how it goes, if it starts leaking I'll try sanding and nail polishing it...but I'm not terribly worried until I give it a shot.

sure. Knowing that, I'm this close to putting it up on ebay and seeing which clown wants a fork from 2001....I'm one of them, but also not willing to pay $200 for the parts needed to get it working again.
