I was watching NWD 6 and it got me thinking. Is there a speed when hubs just can't take all the RPM's and just go into flames or fall apart?

Nah, Not at 100mph. It'd be way faster than that. Bearings that are used in sealed hubs these days are rated at 10-20,000rpm.

Not a modern freehub. Old coaster brake hubs were another matter
