i would put my money into the evolver dh. but i have heard some problems with the spline on the drive side(well at least on their other x-type cranks). the issue is something to do with the spline fit.

I believe the Raceface are a few grams lighter. I have them both and have seen no difference between them in function. I'm going broke buying new BBs though. You may want spend the extra $ for Saint or Diabolas X-Type

You pretty much pay for what you get with the Hussefelts. They're pretty solid for around $60 or whatever, but I bent up a few arms when I ran them in '02, and stripped some the pedal threads out. All of that was from hitting stuff with my pedals.

You're probably better off with the RF cranks. One of my favorite combos, if you can find the arms in 170, are the second generation Shimano XT Hollowtechs (752 I think) with an Octalink BB. The Shimano BBs seem to have a touch better bearing life than most of the ISIS offerings, and the arms are pretty resilient.

Both the raceface and the Truvativ's cheaper lines are like butter. Many people on here have busted their fair share of ISIS cranksets due to not a tight fitting taper and pedal threads. I bought their Prodigy DH cranks and to say the least they are heavy duty but I don't think they'll last like my Holzfeller's will on my DH bike.

Shimano cranks are sort of tried and true. The BB's are cheap, arms aren't too much which is a plus. My Buddy was using LX and XT cranks and both seemed better than my raceface stuff.

I'd really just bite the bullit and get a good solid set of cranks (saints/hone/diablous/holzfellers) and you'll be 10 times happier. I've seen saint's go for pretty cheap and that's with their BB. The Holzfellers though are tough. Never had 1 problem with them yet.

I ran the evolves on my old bike (till the bastards stoll it) and liked them a lot. I dont think the hussefelts have any type of reinforced pedal inserts, which are definetly worth having.

i dont like the husses, im on my 3rd pair and the pedal threads just keep coming out like nothing. I was gonna sell my old bike with the husses, but the dude told me to keep my pedals (funn soljam, best damn pedals ever) and the thread kept coming out, so i like freaked out and 4 hours later i got the thread off, man that pissed me off. but i would save the pennies and get holzfellers atelast, if not saint or diabolus, that's what im looking at. Why couldn't norco slap a pair of holzfellers on the 04 a-line...
