If someone were planning a road trip from NC to Moab what spots would some of you guys recomend this person hitting along the way. Time of year Spring or Summer and would come back through Tx. Windrock will probably be on the list to and from.
Amarillo in TX have some nice trails inside a Canyon, there is some trails in Dallas, i personally like th Northshoe at Grapevine. they are all flat tho, check www.Dorba.org ; If you through NM, there is DH in Angel Fire, and a bunch of awesome trails in Santa Fe.
If need more info let me know
I'm marking all of these places on the map so I will remember to route through them. So far Angel Fire, Santa Fe, Fruita & Grand Junction. Don't think we'll be going through the pan handle so Amirillo is out. Will be going south through Fort Stockton in West Texas then head north from there on the way to NM and CO. Hopefully will be able to hit up a bike park or two while in CO. Keep them comming and if any one wants to tag along the door is open. Should be an Epic trip.
I don't know how far Salt Lake City is from Moab, but it's close and the guys from Go-Ride will gladly show you and /or take you on some epic shuttle rides. I've been told there is some trail in Brian Head UT that is something like 16 miles or so of pure DH. Colorado is another must - check out Keystone, Winter Park, and Sol Vista bike parks.
Let me know when you are going. I'm taking a road trip in June and will be in Colorado, Utah and Lake Tahoe the entire month of June. We are staying at Keystone for 10 days, but I plan to hit a couple different bike parks and ride Fruita and grand Junction as well.
Tell the rockies that North kackalac's coming:biggrin:
A little more of what Rob and Jonny were talking about. I here Hot Springs has miles of flowy trails and the Utah segment 3 with Gooseberry Mesa is spoken highly of.
Sweet thanks fellers. Since Moab is a big part of the trip we're either going Spring or Fall so don't think we'll be able to hook up with you Jonny, but you can tell us what you liked the best out of your trip when you get back.
Loop at Albuquerque. The trails off Sandia Peak are top notch. They are pirate, so you'll need to hook up the guys from a bike shop. The guys from Fat Tire Bikes used to be into the DH scene and built most of the trails. Good long burly DH runs.

Yeah Basher, be happy too give you the low down - that is if you go in the fall. I'll try and do some sort of ride report on here while I'm on the trip. Maybe I'll get a ride in this year with you and swanny at Wilsons sometime.
ROTFL lauging. I here ya man I used to live in Kansas City so I know what you mean. We will be driveing through it however but hoepfully will make it through without needing to stop fer gas.
Edit: Just saw you're in Bellingham. You a native or a transplant from da south? Wanting to get up there and ride one of these days. Up in Seattle a couple times a year for work.
Silverton is crazy. I drove out to the lift when I was out there for a race just to check it out. Its way out a dusty, dusty gravel road. Its one lift with a couple buildings. Nothing fancy just extreme back country. Real cool atmosphere. I haven't heard anything about them in recent years, but if you have a chance. Go. I have heard its a special place.
Comparing Telluride to Silverton... they aren't the same at all. Telluride's old pirate trails would have been worth the free gondola, but since they have been closed the options aren't that good. However there are some insanely long shuttle runs around the area. But local hookup is a must.
