I am so annoyed with my city

So we're going on SEVEN WEEKS of horrible roads that haven't cleared since the first snow storm. We're getting more snow every week and they're doing nothing about.

I hit someone two weeks ago due to ruts and ice. I was doing 1-2 MPH, slid into them, tore off a side mirror. Insurance agent said they're getting A LOT of claims.

NOW the FVCKING CITY is starting to threaten fines to residents and business who don't clear off their sidewalks. Everyone is replying, "You clear my street, I'll clear my sidewalk."

One residential area that has money got frustrated and paid a private contractor to clear their neighborhood. The city actually told them that was illegal and to stop.

Here's the real question... how many people DIED cuz the roads are unacceptable. Every day I personally see an accident that's caused by the road. These are minor, but I've seen the news of people getting killed or losing limbs over the situation.

ok, end rant.

nope, just want my city to do their fvcking job.
Well Im sure they're just not equipped to handle that amount of work. I mean Denver doesnt usually get a blizzard and then a ton more snow afterward. Im sure you know that and are just venting but gov't workers in general are useless and ill equipped govt. workers should probably just be euthanized. I bet after this year they spend a ton on snow plows and staffing and people bitch and complain about it in the coming years b/c there wont be a blizzard to utilize all the stuff.
I dunno.

This thread reminds me of a sign I saw in a Leadville bar during the amendment 2 uproar:

"colorado is for mountain men, not men-mounting-men" NTTAWWT.

It was funny when I was there.

Most of the houses in the neighborhood I was in had anywhere between three to five feet of snow piled up in the front yard.

The streets were barely one lane.

There were a couple of cars in my friends apartment complex that probably won't move until March.

Hey what you complaining about? My mayor had a severe lapse of morality and slept with his secretary:

You're correct and I'm not upset with the workers who are doing their best.

It's the Mayor and his advisors who specifically and clearly said they didn't want to spend more money then they were.

Well, the roads look they've been hit with enemy fire. The snow seeps into the ground, freezes, and blows water mains (not to far from Burly's mom's house -- Colorado and Cherry Creek)... they have no concept of money if they think doing the minimum is cost-effective.

So you know first hand.

Yeah, some cars won't move for a month or more.

Bike commuters are forced into traffic sharing the one lane available... I'm afraid some of them will get hit.

Pedestrians are walking IN the streets. People waiting for buses are waiting in the street.

It's so retarded.

All I know is, if you need to dispose of a body or two in Denver, losing them in a snow bank or two won't be to difficult.

I was there for the blizzard and thought the roads were ok for the amount of snow they got. I guess it just hasnt gotten any better at all since.

Much much worse... snow is ok, but it melts, freezes, fvcks up.

They're finding a body every other week while digging out, on average. Ok, so 'only' four.

Who the hell commutes by bike in Denver in the winter?

(My cousin went to the University of Alberta and did that...he had a few times where he had to take the bus. The grease in his bottom bracket froze when it was -30C outside. Needless to say, that cousin was not in what you would consider an academically challenging program...)

we're an hour S & only a 1,000' higher, and i usually ride to work at least 1 day/week, but this has been an unusually cold, snowy, & cloudy winter. there's been more sublimation than melting, and therefore i haven't ridden in 2 mos. denver's a little worse; they have a proper urban snowpack.

it's messin w/ my head & everyone elses, too. i've seen a little more road rage type stuff, but it's too cold to get out & throw down.
