Hi. im abit confused. Im about to buy a new front derailleur for my Classic Jack Flash frame.. but i dont know which i need.

Im gonna run a 2 ring setup, with a evil drs chainguide/bashring.

Ive included a link where the two different derailleurs are listed.

Its the LX Gold edition i want, and the relevant models are FD-M570G and FD-M571G way down that page.

Which derailleur do i need? I think the difference only mean how big my outer ring can be, but im not sure. I will not change the setup, so versatility has no meaning, and i like it tight and neat.

Can someone help me please?

First you need to know the OD of your seat tube for the clamp size. Then you need to know the cable routing. Top pull if it comes from above or bottom pull if it comes from below. The DS or bottom swing will be easier to adjust closer to a two ring setup (2-3mm clearance) the TS top swing may have clearance issues with the bb shell before it gets close enough to the rings. TS will work however and does look a bit neater as the mechanism is hidden more by the guide plates.

thanks Mike, i know which diameter i need, and that i need top pull. but if you look at the url, one of them has a longer link connecting to the chainguide than the other. i dont know which one i need for my bike

I now know the difference i was looking for was that one takes up to 44 teeth, the other takes up to 48. No further help needed
