To me, showing respect is one thing, but visiting a temple, and bowing to an invisible presence everyday is quite another. It just seems counterproductive.
well... like i said before, when you worship you are not necesarilly "bowing to an invisible presence" for itself...
do you go to leave flowers at cementaries sometimes? do you hold a minute of silence when a loved one dies? do you shake hands with people?

isnt that "showing respect to an invisible presence" or "making things for no practical reason for themselves, but as a simbolism (like the hand shaking)??

does that mean you belief that the flowers you leave are for the dead?

or maybe you could understand that act (similar to worship) as "i make this act (worship can be subsitute), as a token of my memories for the one who was once alive, but not necesarilly for the corpse or because i belief he is heaven or whatever, but for all those who are alive (practical reason) to see that person when alive was a worthy person??

you can go to your church/synagogue/temple/mosque in important dates as decided by all the people for whom "religion" or "god" are merely a representation for a system of ethics, show some r3sp3ct to that (i agree is a bit of an animalistic way) to show those around you that you accept and share the same ethics/way-of-life/hope/actions/memories??
isnt that logic enough???

not that you are necesarilly worshiping for the invisible presence itself, but doing so as a virtual signature, an act of acceptance/sharing with all those around you to show them that you also share the beliefs represented with them...
