Taken from various sources including teammates, race directors, and crazy bob the EMT:

So today at a race I somehow crashed while I was preriding. It gave me a concussion (Unbeknownst to me) and I began riding around saying I didn't know my name. Somehow I got a concussion and amnesia after a crash during the preride, and I didn't know where the crap I was. I got a CAT scan and I can't remember any of it, it's quite sad. I can't remember the past week...all of my friends say I have a new girlfriend, but I don't know who she is

I still don't have any short term memory, I called one of my friends to figure out what I did last night, and I can't remember where I put the phone. Oh this sucks...

Nam I am
Concusions are not fun.

I once crashed during a road race ( smashed my Helmet into 9 pieces ) finished the race , went to medical , when I got there they asked me my Name ( which I knew) then My address . I had to get out my Wallet to give them my address. it was at that point they called the ambulance.

But , My memory was all back in about 24 hours

Ha, according to my teammates, I was standing around while they were staging everyone and I didn't know what class I was racing in or what my name was. Apparantly, when the EMTs asked me a bunch of questions, I didn't know what my name was, but I knew who the president was...

Okay, this is pissing me off. My parents are freaking out about letting me go race alone now, they're afraid I'll get another concussion but this time I'll drive off and end up in China or some crap. I was like...you're kidding me...My short term memory still sucks goat dick, and I've discovered my brand new Animas has a massive crack in it. I'm depressed, what did I do to piss off the gods of MTBing?

Good.

A second concussion shortly -- couple weeks, month? -- after a serious one can seriously and permanently fvck you up for life. Your brain is still healing. It's easy to over look, but you seriously need to give it time to get back to "normal".

I say "normal" cuz you can see from above posts and now mine, multiple concussions have a cummulative affect. I'm really forgetful now.

Opie, I am in the same boat as you.. I have had now my twelfth.. just this past saturday.
I have completely lost any recolection of the moments immediately following that crash.. right up to about three hours after..
that is three hours gone.
I also have complete loss of sensation in my upper left body.. not including my arm.. that is my neck, chest and back.
They say it will get better thankfully.. but I am on the brain damage short list.
It is funny.. they told me that I could not remember virtually anything for about two hours after the accident.. not even what someone just asked me to remember.. but I could positively and surely provide the information about just which concussion it was.
Hell I could not even remember my name or birthday.

so.. in closing.. bluethunder.. listen to your parents.. they are right.. don't bother racing for a while.. it is not worth it.. I have already lost a significant amount of cognitive power and some balance and motor abilities from repeated concussions..
