Picked up this Savage 110 for 200, chambered in .223, I was told it was a 1-9 barrel, that is was a 2003 model. Well.... Turns it's a 1988 and it's a 1-14.... So no good for me. Took it back, told them the problem...... Boss swapped it for this

2015 model Savage axis in .223. Never fired, new in box. Still 200 bucks. Also boss was in tune with me having to drive an hour and a half each direction that he hooked me up with powder, and two boxes of projectiles........ I already had the glass though

I only hear good things about savage. I think I may get into reloading this winter if time permits.

how is the accuracy on the axis? shooting at 100yds? its amazing how well modern manufacturing has gotten and how rifle makers can make budget guns shoot pretty tight groups.

Out of the box accuracy? Crap. Mostly because the stock trigger is total crap. It measured at 9 lbs and felt like sand paper, they tend to vary on creep and the mechanism is about the simplest I have ever seen.

Nice polish job on the trigger and sear, take super time you can work on the creep, and work the main trigger spring and you can get it to 3 pounds and pulls like glass.

Now at 100 it is just splitting hairs. Was amazing while camping this week, was tagging ground squirrels at 200 like it was cool.
