I do. I hate its guts. All the time we hear "lighter and stronger than steel, etc.." and its always the next big thing and pretty soon the whole world will use it instead of metal.

...but why does it suck? Why is my EC70 post constantly slipping down into the frame? Why are little pieces of it chipping off around the clamp if carbon fiber is so great? Why does it taunt me so?

...and its not the first issue Ive had with the "steel of the future" either, but every time I keep going back.

I hate it.

Believe it or not, back in the day i used to own this frame. Got it after an earlier plastic model of another STS broke.

Similiar but the STS wasn't as slacked out as a Lobo DH...

i remember a video of some guy in Germany crashing after his CF GT exploded on a XC descent. Mine cracked after dropping off a small log, all of a sudden it felt like i had 20 inches of travel haha. Good thing i was going slow.

That's why i don't like thin ti or CF, i'm a big guy and failure at high speed equals death.

Anyways this argument has been played for an eternity, but i think if you wiegh below 2 bills you should be fine for carbon. The way it catostrophically breaks is too scary for my fat ass anymore.
To be honest breakage doesnt concern me all that much except now at the area where its chipping. I weigh 190(ish) and Id like to keep the post because I like its dampening effect, but its a ridiculous hassle. Luckily, I got the post for not alot of money a while back.

If you greased it, it'll probably slip.

not sure why everyone is hatin' on carbon seat posts. I've been running an FSA carbon post for almost 2 years and I haven't had a single problem with it. I'm not the most subtle of riders either.

You big babies, no CF post on mountain bikes. Come on, live a little. We often run the full carbon EC90 posts on the trail.

Ok, I don't but some of the true weight weenies around here do.

If you greased it clean it and the inside of the seat tube and it will make a world of difference. If you haven't then I guess its just because you suck.

No, I didnt grease it, although thats another issue altogether. I didnt put framesaver in my seat tube because I wanted to use the carbon post, but as water has gotten in there over the last couple months, I get a little rust dust.

See? Another pitfall of carbon. I hate it.

I don't mind carbon posts on the road bike, though I ride Ti and get the same effect. I like carbon bars on the mtb fine. They worry me on the road bike. I have been nervous about the carbon steerer on the roadie since I put it on. It's likely just my mind, but my bars in my hand at 30 mph bugs me.

I'm still tossing around the idea of selling my post, BS. Be patient. :D
