Wow but I cant stop going ever since I was down any money at all!!!!! Tonight I went on an extreme high thinking I was going to win a crapload of money, I was completely insane in the place. I got my favorite seat at the roulette table and started throwin down $20's. Pretty soon I was winnin and was like ohhhhhhhh thi s is sweet guys. Next thing im down 40, so I throw down another 60. I placed 2 huge bets of 25 each, and won 25 by doing that so at that time I was only down around 15 bucks....totally sweet i'm making a huge comeback. Switched dealers, blah blah blah won some, then lost, lost an assload, and then lost it all. I lost $120 on the night bringing my total loss to a new low. :help: :help: :help: :help: :help: :help: I cant let them keep all of that money!!!!!!!!!!!

Watch the movie "Luck" you'll enjoy it....I have a bunch of friends who have been trying to get me to start going to the casino. They all skip school and go and win loads, like one friend with 40$ won 500$ and had the sense to pull out after that. None of my friends have lost any money yet..still i don't think i would make any money.

Haha sweet I will. All I ever play is roulette, I have tried slots before but they that wasnt happenin for me. I have winning and losing nights on roulette, but I have NEVER been in the positive column. What do your friends play? It would be interesting to see what I am doing wrong :( One of my friends hit it huge on a slot once and won over a grand, and a couple other people I know are up money. You should go, its quite alot of fun, except for the possibility of losing money. That, and the one I go to is smokey as hell. If i'm there long enough I start to feel real sick, and my clothes always smell like smoke when I get home.

You aren't doing anything wrong. The house will ALWAYS come out on top some how or an other. How dou you think they pay for those big ass buildings? Not by letting people win.......................

Watch any special about the MIT blackjack team...It IS possible to beat the house, consistently. You just have to beat them at their own game like only MIT eggheads could...legally.

i work in a casino. the house will always win. blackjack is the only game a good player can have an edge on the house.

about the mit guys. its too hard to make it now.

it may have worked before it was so public. but now?? any decent pit boss will notice you are counting, and start talking, or distracting you. or maybe ask you to leave downright.

in fact, is easier to loose more money if you count bad, than if you dont count at all. and there is a lot of people who think they can count, but they suck ass.

you`d have to suddenly raise and drop your bet and that is an obvious trademark there is a counter. and if that person is winning (1 out of 10 counter wannabes), you wont last long until you are asked to leave.

I will go when I have some more money, right now i'm basically broke....Can;t remember what they played but they all said it was like the eaisest card game there was there. Also my friends tell me the Casino de Montreal pumps in oxygen so you get hyper betting lol. I spent a day betting on horses near Miami, I went through piles of cash and didn;t come out with anything, the only money I would win I used again. Very dumb

very true...all I play is Blackjack and Poker...every now and again I will play slots for fun....you can win at craps but you better know how to play...I haven't read any books yet on how to play but I need to finish my poker books first.....all the other games are just pure luck....at least with blackjack, craps, and poker you can make the odds pretty much even.....D

ahhhh yes....craps. now craps is FUN if your playing at a hot table. The only time I ever won any money at a casino, was at the Hilton in Vegas with my parents. My mom bet the pass line for me (i had no $$$) & after that i won & won & until i had almost $200 then I went to bed.

yup. a casino is a private property that reserves the right to admission.

in the US as far as i know, there has been lawsuits on that, while counting is legal as i recall, the casino can always decline to bet against an experienced player. as far as i know always the casino won in the premise that it requires 2 people to make a bet, and you cannot obligate the casino to bet against you if they dont choose so. but i think atlantic city has a different legislation.

plus, counting doesnt work very well when playing with 8 decks. dealers will start shuffling more often once he/she get suspicious there is a counter in the table, thus dilutting your hopes.
hell! even with 4 decks a good dealer will kill any advantage.

here in peru, we can kick out people at will. but we rarely do, since most counters are wannabes, and since most of them dont know to it well enough, thus loosing more money than they would without counting. but in craps, and the roullette (the american one) the odds are against the player. in fact, in european roullette (the ones we also use in peru) you odd are a bit better than in the US-roullette by 2%.

in craps, the house has an edge, no way around it. same thing with baccarat, poker, slots.

the ONLY game a very good player might turn the odds around is blackjack. no other game. and that is, with a really good counter, with few decks, and not so often shuffling.

I just got my first lesson in craps with a partner in my firm. It was GREAT! Of course, I wasn't playing with my money :) (actually, most of the time I just kept a pile of chips in front of me until it was time to roll the dice). AND, I threw the dice off the table twice :)

I don't think I lost that much in total.... the partner on the other hand....

hahahahaha!, i love that one. my family is into the casino biz here in Peru and lottery business in Venezuela.
60% anual return consistently in the last 8 years.....

i see casinos and lotteries as wealth distribution tools. they take money out of the stupid and wealthy, to create a few jobs, pays taxes, and to switch the money to smarter investors.

not so at the casinos here. well, at least in the Mississippi Delta & Coast. The majority of the gamblers there are old people on fixed income (like my 77 y/o grandmother) & other people who really shouldnt be gambling. it is really sad. they lure them in with free booze & crab legs & the idea that they have a chance that they may leave being so rich, it will change their life forever.

But on the plus side...in the last 10 years Tunica Co., Mississpi has gone from being the poorest county in the nation, to having a whole new city built. New roads, new schools, new city hall, new police station & fire stations, new library, etc.....

yes i am trying to play the markets at 16 with the money i earned over the summer, about 1200. I currently own Sirius (siri) and Clean Harbors Corp (CLHB). I use scott trade, havent lost allot of money yet, i plan to cash in big when sirius hits big and goes back up to 50 bucks. I need more capital because the 7 dollar trade fee would kill me if i went short term penny stocks.

I think we should open a stock thread for beginers like me. ;)

well casinos are not completely evil. they are not completely good. like alcohol.

i mean, even though the people going to biloxi might be 70 year old on fixed income loosing their money on the tables... at least they are not that poor if they can afford to go and spend 100 bucks each time. i mean, the people from biloxi or tunica co will benefit more from those 100 bucks, than what it will hurt old fellas loose their 100 bucks, at least usually.

plus, for this people loosing 100 bucks is a form of enterntainment (dont ask me why).

I want to move to BC!!!
People loose money in the market usually because:

They dont know what they are doing
They listen to bogus info
They think they can make money overnight

There are a lot of advice that can be had in finance, one of them is... that if you keep loosing dont sell... and dont be in a hurry... what comes up must come down and vice versa (mean reversion phenomenon).

I won 90 bucks cash playing poker last night, and made like 60 bucks online in the last two days, getting my account up to 110, and then in a string of unbelievably crappy hands, lost almost 80 dollars online in like an hour. Considering my original buy in online was 10 bucks and Ive never re-bought in, I guess I cant complain, but that doesnt make me less irate.

:stupid:

It's even dumber than betting at a casino. No offense......

At least there's some hope of fair play with a a casino being regulated by a gaming commission.
