I've got about $1200 to spend and want a 5" travel all mountain kind of bike. I can get a Weyless XP for that price. It's basically a Heckler clone. Anybody have one of these or know anyone with one of these?

I have a Bullit that's dialed and just want a decent 5" trail bike. I'd love an Iron horse, but it's way out of my budget...

 I hate asking questions like this, but any info would be helpful!

well if you can scrape up some parts, i've got that Banshee Chaparral for $750. i guess that wouldn't leave you much $$ for parts, though.

The Weyless looks pretty nice, but I think the Heckler is definately the way to go. My friend abused his so0o hard for 4 years. It's a very nice bike.

Thing is, there are no deals out there for a built 5" trail bike that rival the Weyless. If i was deadset on getting a trail bike of that demeanor, I would give the Weyless a long hard look. I saw one up close on a trip to LA and it looked totally fine.

Did it in Buy/Sell.

I think the virtualTT is 22.5 and the ST is 18" (just measured it).

Iv'e got and Ironhorse Hollowpoint frame for sale. It's 4.5"... not sure if that extra inch matters much to you. Check out the link in my sig. I've got one other guy interested in it, but until I get the cash, the frame is still available.

Checkout santacruzmtb.com for all the heckler measurements. My buddy Castle is like 5'10ish and he barely barely fit onto a medium heckler. I'd say if you are like 5'8 it'd be the perfect fit with say a 50mm stem or a 70mm stem if u don't want it to long.

I am 6 foot on a large with a50mm but going to put a 70mm stem on my heckler and i think it will be plenty long but not totally XCd out.

I was running a 90mm stem with Azonic bars and contempating a layback post... Its pretty relative.

Yeah depends on how you want your bike to fit. I wanted my heckler to descend better and such so i am just gonna extend the cockpit with a 70mm stem. My friend loves his bike short and he barely fit into a medium and he was iffy on running a 70mm but now does.

Just depends on the setup since the heckler is imo one of the most versatile bikes.

I thought you were able to get <ahem> deals on bikes and such? No more?
Heckler is pretty sweet though, but that Dakar looks like a pretty good deal, leave you some cabbage to upgrade what you want to as well...
