I was taught in grade school that the correct spelling is "dilemna." Spellcheck and Google both say it's "dilemma." Google research shows that I am not the only person in the world who was taught "dilemna."

So what say a bunch of poo flinging monkeys?

Of course I could just ask binary visions for the correct spelling...

m-w.com unabridged doesn't recognize dilemna.

Sounds like the Mass educational system is the problem...

Even though I spell it dilemna out of habit I recognize the common sense approach the Americans have to spelling. I teach my kids American spelling cos it makes sense.

It was dilemna in ~1989, as I advanced in a spelling bee with that word. I remember, as I was on TV and was our team's anchor.

I have always been taught dilemna since I was a kid. Through GATE classes in elementary and Jr High, Honor's classes in HS, and at Berkeley.

I think this is a dumbing down of America.
